Morogoro. Police have launched a hunt for six suspected armed robbers who are alleged to have killed a passer-by, made off with a business man’s mobile phones and Sh130, 000.
Morogoro Regional Police Commander identified a man who was killed by suspected bandits as Mr Joseph Abubakary and the owner of the shop as Mr Derigo Joseph. The incident took place at the end of last week at Kilongo area, Mkundi ward in Morogoro district. Mr Matei told The Citizen yesterday that the owner of the shop, Mr. Joseph cloaked when the suspected armed bandits showed up.
The alleged robbers, who were in balloon car, shot Mr Abubakary on the head before breaking into the shop. Mr Abubakary died on the spot according to Mr Matei. “After the killing, the robbers invaded the shop and took six mobile phones. They also made away with Sh130, 000,” he said, adding that efforts to hunt them were underway.
In another development, police are holding one, Mr Boniface William, 50 for illegally owning a local made shotgun with its gun muzzle cut.
The RPC said the incident happened on May 02 this year when patrol police found the gun buried in a farm after being informed by good Samaritans.
“The suspect will be arraigned after completion of investigations,” said the commander.
Police are also holding two people for allegedly injuring cattle and destroying crops in Turiani.
The police boss said during the day a herd of cattle belonging to Mr Garato Gopa ,55, entered into, Mr Malaki Bahati’s farm destroying a quarter of an acre of crops.
He said Mr Bahati, 32, picked his machete and injured five cows.
